Lots going on this week after all the summer festivities. City elected officials will be shuffling back from the annual Georgia Municipal Association convention in Savannah by mid-week and the Board of Commissioners definitely does NOT have a scheduled meeting on its calendar this week (unless someone requests a special called meeting). Let’s get to it:

Monday, June 26

  • 10 a.m.: The Georgia State Ethics Board meets in CLOB 1606, Capitol Square, Atlanta. (video)
  • 6 p.m.: The Clayton County Board of Education holds a work session/meeting at district headquarters, 1058 Fifth Ave., Jonesboro. On the agenda: two charter school petitions (Favors Transition Charter Academy and Movement School Atlanta Charter), an update on teaching and learning and strategic improvement from Deputy Superintendent Dr. Delphia Young, and more.

      • Ordinance 2023-04 is to adopt the proposed FY2024 budget.
      • Ordinance 2023-05 would “amend and restate” city employees’ retirement plan, “in accordance with and subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the attached Adoption Agreement, any Addendum to the Adoption Agreement, the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System (GMEBS) Master Plan Document, and the GMEBS Trust Agreement. When accepted by the authorized officers of the City and GMEBS, the foregoing shall constitute a Contract between the City and GMEBS, all as authorized and provided by O.C.G.A. § 47-5-1 et seq.” As of press time Monday afternoon, those supporting documents were not attached to the work session agenda published on the city’s website.
