Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching for a suspect in a domestic-related homicide near Reynolds Nature Center and the surrounding area.

According to Clayton County Police, a man fatally shot his father-in-law during a domestic dispute in the 1000 block of Reynolds Court. The Clayton Crescent’s editor was in Reynolds Nature Preserve shortly after 11 a.m. Monday and heard five shots, followed by what sounded like a woman’s short scream and several dogs barking, then silence.

Within several minutes, numerous Clayton County and Lake City Police and sheriff’s vehicles passed the park entrance at high speed, sirens blaring. At the intersection of Reynolds Road and Phillips Drive, Clayton County Sheriff’s deputies sped by, along with a fire truck. a few minutes later, at the intersection of Morrow Road and Ash Street, about seven undercover vehicles of various types, coming from Old Dixie Road, turned left and sped up Ash Street at high speed, also running lights and sirens.

CCPD advises everyone to exercise caution as the suspect is still at large as of press time Monday. However, they did not have a name or description of the suspect to share at this time. We will update as more information becomes available.
