Ed. Note: It is the policy of The Clayton Crescent not to run mugshots of criminal suspects unless they pose an immediate threat to the public, such as an active shooter or the subject of a manhunt. The term “person of interest” has no legal definition, applies to people who might have information about a case, and does not necessarily mean that the person is a suspect.

The Clayton County Police Department says it wants to talk to a man who is known to frequent Clayton County about a fatal shooting in Morrow on November 25, 2022 on Pahaska Court in Ellenwood.

CCPD said in a press release that Keelon Tate, 23, had been shot dead inside a home.

Khalee Phipps, 18, has been named as a person of interest in the shooting death of Keelon Tate, 23, on November 24, 2022 in Ellenwood. Clayton County Police are asking the public not to approach Phipps and to call Det. Walker at (770) 473-5483. (Photo: Clayton County Police Dept.)

According to CCPD, “After an extensive investigation into this shooting, Clayton County Police Detectives are identifying Khalee Phipps as a person of interest in this case.”

Police say Phipps, 18, “is known [to] hang in the Clayton County, GA area in addition to the Allenhurst, GA area….Please do not approach Khalee Phipps.”

Phipps is described as a Black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information as to Phipps’ whereabouts is urged to call the Clayton County Police Department at (770) 477-3747, (404) 577-TIPS, or Detective Walker at (770) 473-5483.
