The Clayton County Board of Commissioners will hold a special called meeting on Thursday, March 2 at 1 p.m.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, March 1, the purpose of the meeting is to consider pending litigation.

No detailed agenda had been published as of press time.

The public can attend the meeting, which will take place at 112 Smith Street in Jonesboro.

What to expect

When the BOC considers pending litigation, it usually goes into executive session for an undetermined period of time. Executive sessions are not open to the public. However, once the executive session ends, the board must return to the dais and state whether it plans to take any action based on the executive session.

If the board does take action, it must state the exact action to be taken in the open meeting. If the board then decides to call for a vote on whether to take the action, that vote must be taken in the open meeting under the Georgia Open Meetings Act.
