Neal likely to take over

Rep. Rhonda Burnough (D-77, Riverdale) has resigned as head of the Clayton County Legislative Delegation.

Burnough told The Clayton Crescent, “It’s just time to allow somebody else the opportunity to be a leader….I took over from part of [Sen.] Valencia [Seay]’s term, and then I did two. And so, it’s time for somebody else. I have some other things I want to work on.”

In particular, Burnough said she wants to work on her African-American museum.

The delegation will elect a new leader Wednesday, she said, adding that Rep. Yasmin Neal (D-79, Jonesboro) would like the leadership position.

Reps. Sandra Scott (D-76, Rex) and Kim Schofield (D-63, Atlanta) also told The Clayton Crescent that Neal would become the new delegation leader.
