TO VOLUNTEER: Call Drew Andrews at (678) 628-6525

“We have a responsibility to care for all Clayton County citizens, especially our displaced and homeless population, ” said Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeffrey E. Turner.” Securing a warming station for those in need is something that should never be taken for granted. We are committed to providing this resource to assist those in need during what is anticipated to be one of the coldest days of the year.”

Cots and blankets will be provided. For more information, or to volunteer at the temporary warming shelter, contact (678) 628-6525.

“We’re looking for people to share some of their time in two- or four-hour blocks,” Andrews told The Clayton Crescent. “If people have access to any hygiene kits, things that people who are experiencing homelessness would need, that would be helpful. We’ll be open 24 hours, so we need some people to work evenings and nights. People can volunteer as couples, husband and wife, or family members. We need four to six people per shift, as far as volunteers, helping with those who are our guests. If we’re setting up cots, food, probably help with serving food—just making sure that out guests are comfortable.”

Sequoyah Middle School is on Valley Hill Rod between Jonathan Road and Rivercrest Drive in Riverdale.
