Overview:

Go behind the scenes as President Barack Obama urges Georgia Democrats to vote. Plus, candid shots of lawmakers bustin' moves.

On Friday, October 28, former President Barack Obama drew about 7,000 people to a rally for Georgia Democrats in College Park. Part rally, part homecoming, part impromptu dance (as led most enthusiastically by the women of the Georgia Assembly), the event was designed to wind up the party faithful to get out the vote as the November 8 election draws near. Spotted in the crowd from Clayton County: State Senators Valencia Seay and Gail Davenport; State Reps. Rhonda Burnough, Sandra Scott, and Debra Bazemore; Chairman Jeff Turner and his wife, Darlene; District 2 Commissioner Gail Hambrick; College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom (on the podium); Jonesboro City Councilwoman Donya Sartor; and Clayton County Democratic Party activist Pat Pullar. Browse through the gallery and see who else you recognize (and, of course, let us know if we missed you)! Plenty of HBCU alums and current students were sporting their school pride at this homecoming-like event. All photos by Robin Kemp/The Clayton Crescent.

The Clayton Crescent has recorded not only news, but history, that otherwise would have been lost since the pandemic began. We need your monthly support in order to continue our nonprofit news operation after October 31. We need to raise $20,000 or we will shut down. Given that November is our membership drive month, that would be a shame.

Give today at http://donorbox.org/clayton-crescent and please choose the monthly tab. Thank you.
