The latest COVID-19 numbers are in from the Clayton County Health District and they are sobering. Cases are up among all age groups except people 70 and older. Three Clayton County residents, all unvaccinated, died of COVID-19 last week:

As of Sunday, July 31, 2022, Clayton County has logged 63,775 cases of COVID-19, with 625 people testing positive last week. To date, 935 Clayton County residents have died of the disease. Clayton County now accounts for 3% of all COVID-19 cases in Georgia.

Jonesboro (30.4% or 19,370 cases) and Riverdale (21.2%, or 13,486 cases) continue to account for more than half of the county’s COVID-19 cases sine the pandemic began.

Of the 625 Clayton County residents who tested positive for COVID-19 last week:

  • 304 were unvaccinated
  • 38 were partially vaccinated
  • 155 were fully vaccinated
  • 128 fully vaccinated and boosted

Of the 625 who were diagnosed, 44 were hospitalized:

  • 23 were unvaccinated
  • 2 were partially vaccinated
  • 13 were fully vaccinated
  • 6 were fully vaccinated and boosted

Of the 44 people who were hospitalized, 3 died:

  • All 3 were unvaccinated
