The Clayton County Board of Commissioners has voted unanimously to name Internal Audit Director Stacey E. Merritt, CFE as interim county chief financial officer.
BOC Chair Jeff Turner, who nominated Merritt during a special called meeting June 28, said, ”I truly believe she is a person who could keep it in the middle of the road” until a permanent CFO is named. Commissioner Gail Hambrick seconded the motion.
The board then went into executive session to discuss personnel matters.
Just for clarification is this not a CFO position but Finance Director according the the BOC meeting. Also everyone know Merrit is “their” girl. She’ll do whatever they ask her to do. Bring in another company to help the County do their job. More money they don’t have to spend.
Thanks for commenting. Both the minutes of the June 28 special called meeting and the current Finance Department page list Merritt’s title as Interim CFO.
