A Clayton County police officer was transported to a local hospital after an armed domestic disturbance suspect struck her Monday morning in Riverdale, according to a press release from the Clayton County Police Department. 

Officers responded to the 5700 block of Riverdale Road around 8 a.m. for a report of an armed domestic disturbance. Police say the suspect, 22-year-old Antonio Phillips, ran from police and entered a vehicle. When an officer tried to remove Phillips from the vehicle, Phillips hit the officer and drove off.

Officers later tracked down the vehicle and arrested Phillips. He is charged with aggravated assault against a police officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, theft by receiving, criminal damage – family violence, simple battery, theft by taking, obstruction, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
