The Clayton County Board of Commissioners holds a public hearing on the FY2023 budget at 5:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 17, at 112 Smith Street, Jonesboro.
This is a chance for taxpayers to give commissioners their feedback on proposed spending for the coming year. While the county sets millage rates, they do not set property values.
If you have a concern about your property taxes, you can let the BOC know but you should also contact the Clayton County Tax Assessor’s office at (770) 477-3285. If you want to appeal your 2022 assessment, you can do that online at https://appeals.claytoncountyga.gov/.
The hearing is also a time for taxpayers to express what they want their tax dollars spent on and to comment on items in the draft budget. You can see the budget and submit written feedback at https://www.claytoncountyga.gov/government/finance/proposed-budget.
