For students trying to scrape together college money, every little bit helps. Here’s an opportunity to win a $500 scholarship established in memory of a Riverdale man.

The Demarcus Woods Dream Maker Scholarship is sponsored by the nonprofits Visionaries Foundation and MarcSpeaks (A Dreamer’s Heart).

The deadline to apply has been extended to May 13, 2022. Any graduating senior with a 2.0 GPA or higher, from any school in metro Atlanta, can apply. You have to provide proof of acceptance to a four-year, two-year, or technical college.

To apply, you’ll need to do some writing:

  • Brief written statement on your short-term goals over the next 12-24 months, as well as your long-term goals within the next 10 years
  • You can add a 3- to 5-minute audiovisual presentation on how you would benefit from the scholarship. Be sure to send it either as a .mov or .mp4 file.
  • Send all entries with attachments to admin@marcspeaks.com.

The first recipient of the scholarship was Ryan Lewis of Clayton State University.
