by Robin Kemp

The East Point Police Department and The City of South Fulton Police Department are asking for the public’s help to identify any victims of a man who fired a rifle at Fairburn Road near Camp Creek Parkway early on Sunday, January 23.

Police say the man fired shots at passing vehicles sometime between 1 a.m. and 2 p.m. Video shows the man pointing a rifle at a passing car and shooting:

When police confronted the man, he ran into the woods nearby. Officers arrested a suspect, Joseph Washington, 19, of East Point, after they found him at Otter Dam Court and Kingfisher Drive. Police say Washington had the rifle tucked in his waistband.

Anyone who saw the incident, was injured by gunfire, or whose home or vehicle were struck is urged to call East Point Police at (404) 761-2177 and ask to speak with a detective, or e-mail aglover@eastpointcity.org with any information.
