UPDATE 12:44 p.m. 10/6: GoFundMe set up for children, funeral expenses

The family of a hospice care worker and mobile bartending entrepreneur shot dead and left on the side of I-675 has set up a GoFundMe for her three children and for funeral expenses.

Clayton County Police say Cormella Thomas, 30, was positively identified as the victim.

Claudia Curiel, regional spokesperson for GoFundMe, said, “Missy was a single mother of three children ages 13, 8, and 2 years old. Missy spent her time working full time in hospice care, caring for those in need at their most vulnerable moment. She was also an entrepreneur with her own mobile bartending business. Her family has set up a GoFundMe and said, ‘Our family is broken by this traumatic death and vulnerable is an understatement. We are asking for anybody willing and able to donate to this go fund me to assist with keeping her 3 children together, funeral arrangements, and general assistance with piecing together these children lives moving forward.'”

GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles confirmed Monday that medical examiners there will perform an autopsy.

Thomas’ Instagram page indicates that she was the mother of three children.

Cormella “Missy” Thomas, 30, was shot multiple times. A passerby found her body on the shoulder of I-675.

CCPD did not provide Thomas’ hometown. However, a Google search turned up a Cormella Thomas in Atlanta who, according to, had received a a Paycheck Protection Loan of $20,833 through American Lending Center that had been approved in May. Thomas is listed as a sole proprietor in the field of administrative management and general management consulting services.

A check of online business filings with the Georgia Secretary of State showed Thomas was sole proprietor of Tipsy with Missy, LLC, a company that was registered to an address at the Avalon Ridge Apartments on Mt. Zion Road in southwest Atlanta, as well as to a principal office address at 400 West Peachtree Street in Atlanta. Previously, the company was associated with an address at the Columbia Peoplestown Apartments on Tuskeegee Street in Atlanta.

A Facebook page for Tipsy with Missy shows a mobile bartending service by the same name. The company also has an Instagram page.
