Clayton County Public Schools announced Saturday that, “as a precaution, the staff and students of Smith Elementary School and Rex Mill Middle School in Rex will pivot to a virtual learning environment effective Monday, August 23, 2021 through Friday, September 3, 2021 due to an increased number of COVID-19 cases.”
Students would go back to campus Tuesday, September 7.
Parents and guardians should contact the schools directly for information about breakfast and lunch during virtual learning.
CCPS said it will “continue to make decisions based on the best interest of all students and employees while monitoring ongoing matters relative to the pandemic,” adding that these decisions are based on data from the schools and “key health officials.”
