Clayton County Public Schools says Kemp Primary School in Hampton will pivot to virtual learning for the rest of this week, starting Wednesday, August 11.

Although the announcement doesn’t specify the reason for the change, it comes amid reports of COVID-19 exposures at schools around the system.

“As a reminder, the school district will continue to make decisions based on the best interest of all students and employees while monitoring ongoing matters relative to the pandemic,” said CCPS spokesman Ronald T. Jones-Shields II.

Any further decisions will depend on “the data shared by district and school-based leaders, as well as key health officials, ” he said.

He added, “All stakeholders are asked to stay connected to the school systems’ platforms for the latest news and developments as additional information will be shared as it becomes available. Your understanding and participation throughout this process are appreciated as we all continue to work together to keep our students and staff safe during this unprecedented pandemic.”

Jones-Shields said that B. C. Haynie Elementary in Morrow would not go to virtual learning and that a previous CCPS announcement to that effect was a mistake.
