Caretaker injured trying to save him
by Robin Kemp
A 12-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed near Noah’s Ark Road and Floyd Road Friday, July 23. The special-needs boy’s caretaker is hospitalized in serious condition after he also was hit while trying to save the child, according to Clayton County Police.
CCPD had not identified either victim as of press time.
The boy’s death brings to at least 26 the number of people killed on Clayton County’s roads since January 1, and comes just two days after a memorial event for the dead and calls for road safety improvements. There are no sidewalks on either side of the road at that intersection.

Traffic was shut down in both directions and drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
