Clayton County NAACP Chair C. Synamon Baldwin, along with friends and family of the late educator and civil rights leader Celestine Louise Bray Bottoms, met in Centennial Park on Juneteenth weekend to release balloons in Bottoms’ memory.
Bottoms, who was the mother-in-law of Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, died December 12, 2020. She served as an advisor to the young leaders of the Atlanta Student Movement.
For Baldwin, the ceremony had particular meaning, as Bottoms was her godmother.
