The viewing for the late Clayton County Board of Commissioners Vice-Chair and District 1 Commissioner Sonna Singleton Gregory, 59, takes place today, Friday, June 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 2112 Rex Road, Morrow.

Gergory died May 27 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband, Clayton County Police Department Aviation Manager and Tactical Flight Officer Willie Davis Gregory, Jr. and her daughter, Jordyn Speakman, a cellist and middle school orchestra teacher.

Services will take place at the church on Saturday, June 5 at 11 a.m., led by Pastor Arthur Powell. Flowers or memorial tributes may be placed through Anthony L. Watkins Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Clayton County will livestream the Celebration of Life on its website starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. Condolences may be left via that website and through the funeral home’s page.

A repast will follow immediately after the service.

Internment will be at Sherwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 6841 Tara Boulevard.

On Tuesday, the Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to name the county’s new senior center in memory of Gregory.
