Clayton County Commissioner Sonna Singleton Gregory dreamed of a state-of-the-art Senior Center. On Saturday, May 22, that dream becomes reality.

The Northeast Senior Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 22, at 3215 Anvil Block Road in Ellenwood. Advance registration is required and, due to COVID-19 precautions, only 50 guests who present paper or electronic tickets will be able to attend in person. Attendees also must wear cloth facemasks and maintain social distance out of respect to others, especially those whose immune systems may be compromised.

You don’t have to be there in person to take part in the event–online attendance is part of the program, too.

The center “will provide the opportunity for expanded services and programs that promote independence, dignity, and enhance the quality of life for older adults,” according to the county’s website.

Amenities include:

  • Lap-swimming pool
  • State-of-the-art fitness center
  • Community garden
  • Multipurpose space for performing arts/activities
