The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says it arrested and charged a Jonesboro man March 24 in a child sex abuse investigation.

According to a the GBI, Mac Baxley, 44, of Jonesboro is charged with aggravated child molestation and three counts of sexual exploitation of children related to production of child pornography. The GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit had gotten a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a possible porn-production operation. The GBI immediately opened an investigation and a search warrant for Baxley’s home “the same evening,” (March 25, according to online court filings). There, the GBI said it found evidence that led to Baxley’s arrest.

Baxley’s first appearance will be before Magistrate Judge Keisha Wright Hill at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26 via Zoom. He has not been convicted of the crimes of which he stands accused and is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Also taking part in the investigation were the Jonesboro Police Department and the GBI’s Atlanta Field Office.

The GBI asks anyone with information about child exploitation to contact the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit at (404) 270-8870 or call (800) 597-TIPS(8477).
