UPDATE 2:40 p.m. Tuesday with CCPD press release info

A man was struck and killed by a MARTA bus in Riverdale late Monday, March 22, according to Clayton County Police Chief Kevin Roberts. According to Roberts, the man apparently stepped out in front of the bus.

In a press release issued Tuesday, CCPD said the bus was heading southbound in the right-hand lane when a 33-year-old Black man was hit and killed. Police say he was wearing a black shirt and blue pants, that he “wasn’t near a crosswalk, and the area of impact was dark and not illuminated.”

The family has yet to be notified so the man’s name has not been released, CCPD said. The investigation is in its preliminary phase and ongoing.
