As part of its efforts to get out the vote, the Clayton County NAACP will be holding a “Collard Green Caucus” at the Lee Headquarters Library, 865 Battlecreek Road in Jonesboro from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 31. That’s the last day of early voting before the January 5 runoff election for two key U.S. Senate seats.
The civil rights organization will be handing out hot meals, along with black-eyed peas, cornbread mix, and raw collard greens to take home and cook. The food is first-come, first-served.
Community volunteers, Black Voters Matter, the National Black Farmers Association, DJ Paris, and the Clayton County NAACP are cosponsors of the event, which is free and open to the public.
For more information or to volunteer for the event, text the Clayton County NAACP at (404) 424-6567 or e-mail unit5639@gmail.com.
