Get ready for some sharp new fire trucks and ambulances on the streets of Clayton County!
Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services will unveil eight brand-new 2020 Pierce Enforcer Pumpers and four 2020 Ford F-550 Medical Transport Units on Friday, December 18 at 9 a.m.
The unveiling will take place on the training grounds of Fire Department Headquarters, 7810 Georgia Hwy. 85 in Riverdale.
The new vehicles will get a ceremonial spray of water at Station 11 enroute to the event.
The new vehicles come with updated graphics “that meet the changing vision of the department,” according to a press release issued Wednesday.
Chief Landry Merkison said the new units are the latest in a series of modernizations since April 2014.
Another major update to these lifesaving units are the automatic vehicle locators, which uses GPS to dispatch units from their immediate locations. That, Merkison said, “will save lives in our community because it allows our personnel to get to the emergency much faster.”
Merkison added, “I am personally thankful to the Clayton County Board of Commissioners and the citizens of Clayton County for their continued support of Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services by making such a critical investment in the safety of the community.”
