Bikers Against Abuse International will hold a benefit ride Sunday, Aug. 30 in memory of Charles Haralson, 39, who died Aug. 18 of complications from a motorcycle accident.

Haralson’s viewing is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27 at Tara Garden Chapel and his funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, with burial at Tara Gardens, 681 North Ave., Jonesboro.

The ride will start at Tara Wrecker, 9140 Turner Road, Jonesboro, at 9 a.m., with kickstands up at 10 a.m. for the ride to Dickeys Farms, 3440 Musella Road, Musella.

Solo bikers pay $15, bikers with a passenger pay $20, and cars and trucks pay $10 to join the ride. All proceeds go to Haralson’s widow, Cheryl.

“We lost a good man and a great friend,” the group’s international president, Paul Libri, posted to Facebook. “If you had ever met Charles Haralson you would have been graced with his contagious smile, his caring heart and of course his totally indescribable sense of humor.

“The first time I met charges was when I worked for Tara Wrecker. Charles was wearing sunglasses at night….He always went out of his way to help no matter how many hours he had already worked, no matter the weather conditions nor if he was already home in bed. I son’t believe I can recall a time he ever said no.

“It was a true honor and privilege to have met you, work besides you and ride Harleys with you (of which he had many).

“Charles leaves behind a wife and children whom we ask you to please keep close in your heart and in your prayers.”

Survivors include Haralson’s wife, Cheryl Jinks; sons Nate, Hunter Herrero, and James Herrero; daughters Bridget Whitmire, Gracie Haralson, and Alyssa Lewis; parents Chuck and Tina Haralson; brother Mikie Haralson; sister Amelia Dykens; and granddaughter Rosalina Whitmire.

A celebration of Haralson’s life will be held at the family home in Hampton on Sept. 13.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Haralson’s memory may be made to Lupus Foundation Georgia Chapter, 1850 Lake Park Dr., Suite 101, Smyrna, Georgia 30080.
