The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Clayton County stands at 1,699 as of Tuesday, June 23.
Dr. Olugbenga Obasanjo said, “We are at the stage of the pandemic response where personal responsibility is key. The uptick we are seeing is associated with increased interactions that ignore using of masks and social distancing. The distal effects of increased hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths haven’t been seen yet, but may follow.”
Since June 1, Clayton County has gone from 1,231 known cases to 1,699–that’s an increase of just over 38 percent in just 23 days.
“Maintain social distancing and mask use in ALL interactions outside of daily family interaction,” Obasanjo said. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, he added, you should “immediately isolate and go to https://covid19.dph.ga.gov/ to register for testing for yourself and make sure to share the website with all your contacts to get tested, as well.”
