Democrat Jon Ossoff, who was strongly endorsed by Rep. John Lewis, was the clear choice of Clayton County Democrats to go after incumbent Sen. David Perdue’s seat in November.
With 100% of precincts reporting, Ossoff led the crowed field with 53.47% or 19,118 votes. His closest challenger, Sara Riggs Amico, racked up 13.4% or 4,790 votes. In third place was Maya Dillard Smith with 11.63% or 4,157 votes. Former Columbus mayor Teresa Pike Tomlinson had some name recognition around the county, but not enough, as she came in at 9.05% or 3,237 votes.
