In a rare joint appearance, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will fly over Clayton County in a show of support for COVID-19 healthcare workers Saturday, May 2. The Blue Angels released a flight plan that shows them departing Marietta at 1:35 p.m., passing over Forest Park about 1:45 p.m., then Riverdale, then down to Fayetteville and Peachtree City and looping back to Newnan by 2 p.m.
The two squadrons apparently will fly over Southern Regional Medical Center and Piedmont Henry Hospital. Navy and Air Force officials say people who want to see the flyover should stay home and watch the skies. Specifically, they should not gather near hospitals or in large groups and should practice social distancing.
Local law enforcement also held a parade for Southern Regional and Kaiser Permanente Southwood employees on Friday to thank healthcare workers for their service in the COVID-19 crisis.
